| FedEx sought to expand their market presence in China and Hong Kong but experienced difficulty in the highly regulated environment. They wanted to promote the liberalization of the China/Hong Kong air express markets by measuring the economic impacts of improved services to shippers and consignees as a counterbalance to the purported benefits of protecting national carriers. TranSystems | Campbell-Hill conducted the study which was used in negotiations with the Chinese government. In 2005 FedEx announced it would open a $150 million hub at Guangzhou's Baiyun International Airport. |
