| TranSystems designed and supervised construction of a double-access track from the mainline to the on-dock facility, working tracks for rail loading and a six-track, 25-acre yard. To determine the most economical size of the new terminal based on projected cargo throughput, TranSystems prepared throughput capacity analyses. Layout scenarios were developed based on variations and sizes of terminal components, and a computerized throughput model was run for each scenario. Based on these analyses, terminal acreage requirements were reduced by approximately 30 percent, with significant cost savings. |
